What is next

Social Fabric of Migration is ongoing project. New yarn canvases "weaved" as an art project becomes a social fabric (or ryjy), filled with immigrants' stories. The main objects in this practice are yarns that I, an artist, attaching to the blank canvas, a metaphor of a life started from scratch in a new country. Yarn is a continuous length of interlocked fibers, a long-distance connection to previous life and experience. In informal language, “yarn” means telling a long story.

The purpose is to create a social fabric filled with stories of immigrants, to share those stories with others, to foster empathy within contemporary society, to connect people and to provide this important feeling that every one of us is a part of the community and we shape the community no matter what official statuses in our papers saying.

If you feel you want to share your immigrant story or a story that connects you to the challenges of any kind of migration and become a part of Social Fabric of Migration, please, share your story in this "Social Fabric of Migration" Art project.

It will be just great if you can participate in the art project with your real yarn, then please choose the yarn that has personal meaning for you or pick one that represents you and your immigration experience.

Any amount, any colour, new or old - just please, describe why you chose it.
